Installation Process

How EV Charger Installation Works

From assessment to charging in as little as one day.

Site Assessment

We evaluate your electrical panel, determine the best charger location, and measure the circuit run distance.

Charger Selection

Choose between hardwired or plug-in chargers, 40A or 50A circuits, and smart features based on your needs.

Panel Prep (If Needed)

If your panel needs a dedicated 240V circuit or an upgrade to support the charger, we handle it.

Installation & Testing

We install the charger, run the circuit, and test everything. You'll be charging your EV that same day.

Common Questions

EV Charger Installation FAQ

Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel for an EV charger?

It depends on your current panel capacity. Most homes built after 2000 with 200A service can accommodate a Level 2 charger without upgrades. During our site assessment, we'll check your panel and let you know if any work is needed.

What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 charging?

Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and adds about 3-5 miles of range per hour — fine for plug-in hybrids but slow for full EVs. Level 2 uses a 240V circuit (like your dryer) and adds 25-50 miles per hour, giving you a full charge overnight.

Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector?

Yes. We install Tesla Wall Connectors, Tesla Universal Wall Connectors, and third-party chargers that work with all EVs. If you have multiple EVs or plan to switch brands later, a universal charger may be the better choice.

Where should I install my EV charger?

Most homeowners install chargers in their garage near the driver's side charge port. Outdoor installations with weatherproof enclosures are also an option. We'll help you choose the best location based on your driveway and parking setup.

How long does EV charger installation take?

A straightforward installation typically takes 2-4 hours. If panel work or a long circuit run is involved, it may take a full day. We'll give you a clear timeline during the estimate.

Do EV chargers qualify for tax credits?

Yes. The federal EV charger tax credit covers 30% of equipment and installation costs, up to $1,000 for residential installations. Check with your tax advisor for eligibility.
